Stargazing Session + Solar Observation Session
A day at its fullest! With this pack, you can come to the Official Dark Sky® Alqueva Observatory during the afternoon to enjoy a solar session at the end of the day, where you will discover the secrets of our star, the Sun. You can then return at night and discover the secrets of other stars that are even further away and more mysterious, be amazed with the observation of planets, nebulae and distant galaxies in an unforgettable stargazing session.
The solar observation session:
Our star, the Sun, is presented in our conference room in a simple way and compared to other stars visible at night. This is followed by the observation of the Sun in our Observatory, using telescopes that are completely safe, which 100% block harmful emissions of infrared and ultraviolet rays but that allow the Sun to be seen in the wavelength of visible light and Hydrogen-Alpha. The solar spots, prominences and protuberances are observed with our specialized equipment, in a spectacular manner and without difficulties.
The stargazing session:
The stargazing session begins with a guided tour of Miguel Claro’s astrophotography exhibition, with images taken in Dark Sky® Alqueva. After, in the Observatory the celestial sphere is explored with the unaided eye, mixed with observations using binoculars and high quality telescopes. This activity is great for everyone, from those who are simply curious about the marvels of the Universe to the more experienced astronomers, whether they come on their own, accompanied or with family.

Requires a previous reservation. The slots are limited per session.
Sessions are available for various times, agreed upon reservation. Available from Tuesday to Saturday and is adjusted taking into account the phases of the Moon and the month of the year, the weather conditions and the observatory’s availability on the date and time requested.
