The Official Dark Sky® Alqueva Observatory, located in the village of Cumeada, headquarters of Dark Sky® Alqueva, is equipped with state-of-the-art telescopes for solar and astronomical observation. These allow for a truly unique visual experience from planets and lunar craters to the depths of the night sky, on a cosmic journey through nebulae, galaxies and star clusters rising above one of the finest skies in the world.
The Observatory also offers a wide range of activities that combine astronomical observation with remarkable sensory and gastronomic experiences, such as relaxing at sunset while enjoying a cocktail or taking part in a blind wine tasting under the stars. We collaborate with specialist partners across different fields to design tailor-made programmes that can provide unforgettable days, from sunrise to the most star-filled night in the Alentejo.
