This experience takes place at the Official Dark Sky® Observatory, located in the village of Cumeada, in the heart of the Dark Sky® Alqueva Reserve, one of the regions with the darkest and most well-preserved night skies in Europe.
The session lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and consists of a guided astronomical experience led by an Official Dark Sky® Guide. During the session, participants have the opportunity to identify and understand several elements of the deep sky, including:
The experience combines scientific knowledge and contemplation, offering an interpretation of the night sky that is both accessible and scientifically rigorous.
Sessions take place from Tuesday to Saturday, by prior booking only. Scheduling takes into account several astronomical and operational factors, including the phase of the Moon, the time of year and celestial objects in prominence, weather conditions, and the availability of the Observatory.
Each evening, two observing sessions are held, one in Portuguese and one in English, at alternating times, allowing both national and international participants to take part.
This is an immersive and distinctive experience, ideal for those who wish to discover the depth and beauty of the universe beneath one of the darkest skies in Europe.
